Villanova University is pleased to offer a conservation pre-program internship in paintings conservation for a Two Year Project for qualified students who are applying for a Masters-level degree in conservation. The project involves the on-site treatment of a large scale 16th-century oil on canvas and is scheduled to begin September 2013 with a proposed project end date of September 2015. This internship is for the duration of the project and expected to last two years. The applicants will be expected to engage with the general public and should be comfortable with leading and organizing tours after proper instruction. Payment is commensurate with experience and hours/dates are flexible.
- Intern will work a 10-15 hour work week, with flexile work scheduling; beginning and ending dates are also flexible; total of 40 work days per semester; position works full year including fall, spring and summmer semesters
- Activities will include paint consolidation, removal of degraded paint/varnish, filling and inpainting
- Assisting with public engagement activities
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned
