The Virginia Association of Museums invites you to submit a session proposal to help craft an exciting program for the 2015 Annual Conference. Applications are currently being accepted through Monday, August 4, 2014.
On Friday, July 18th at 7pm, a panel of three reputable speakers will be holding a session titled “The Implications of Current Fighting for Iraq’s Cultural Heritage” at the Iraqi Cultural Center. The session will be highlighting on the current fighting in Iraq which broke out since the beginning of 2014, and the scope of devastation that impacted the archaeological sites in Northern and Central Iraq.
The Smithsonian Institution has a requirement for the services of a conservation professional to perform artifact condition assessments, documentation, treatments and treatment reports for the Kendall Ballooning and Early Aviation Collection at the National Air and Space Museum. The position will be for a not-to-exceed 12 month period. All work will be performed in the Emil Buehler Conservation Laboratory at the Steven F.
On Wednesday, July 23 WCG will host a tour for Interns & Fellows at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) conservation facilities at the Museum Support Center (MSC) in Suitland, Maryland. For those traveling by shuttle, we will meet at 12:50PM in front of the NMNH mall location, at the Madison Dr. entrance facing the mall.
New Directors are:
They join continuing Directors Lynn Brostoff and Diana Galante, for a total of seven. The President has asked Lindy Gulick to serve as Director in order to have a full complement of eight.
Justine Posluszny-Bello will serve as was elected Membership Secretary, succeeding Kristin Loudermilk.
