The Washington Conservation Guild presents the second meeting of the 2016/2017 season

Mountmaking for Conservation with Consideration for Long-Term Display and Storage
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Reception – An ARTEX logo pullover fleece, T-shirt, and hat will be raffled!
The Williston Award recipients will be announced at this meeting.
5:15 and 5:30 p.m. – Two tours of the ARTEX Facilities and Conservation Lab
(Note: Each tour will be limited to 10 people and will be on a first come, first serve basis.)
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Speaker: Jen Simons
Jen Simons, Founding Partner of Brigid Mountmaking, began welding at the age of 14 and has carried her passion for metalwork to the museum field. After years of work in the profession, Jen established her own mountmaking company, and has provided mountmaking, large scale project management, and fine art rigging services to institutions both nationally and internationally. She has made mounts for many DC-area museums and has worked with conservators and exhibition teams to create mounts that provide excellent support for artifacts, enhance the visitor experience, and are made for long-term preservation of the objects.
This meeting will be held at ARTEX Fine Art Services, 8712 Jericho City Drive, Landover, MD 20785.
Driving: Take exit 16 off of 495 N, turn left on Arena Drive, right on to Brightseat Rd, and left on to Jericho City Drive. ARTEX is in the large warehouse on your right. Or take US-50 E to MD-202 S/Landover Rd in Cheverly. Take exit 3B from US-50 E Follow MD-202 S/Landover Rd and Brightseat Rd to Jericho City Dr. Numerous parking spaces are available in the lot in front of the ARTEX building.
Metro: Take blue line to Largo Town Center. Walk to ARTEX (1.1 mile, about 20 min.) through Largo Shopping Plaza to Arena Dr., turn left on Arena Dr., right on Brightseat Rd, left on Jericho City Dr. Or from metro, take bus 28 to Arena and Bishop Peebles Dr. and walk up Brightseat Rd (cross Arena Dr.) and turn left on Jericho City Drive (0.3 mile walk).
