The Conservation department of The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum is hosting a one day workshop on suction table technology in conjunction with RH Conservation Engineering.The department recently acquired RH Conservation Engineering’s suction unit, suction table worktop, 300mm x 100mm suction platen and humidification cover. This equipment will be demonstrated in the session and participants will be allowed to work with Robin Hodgson to apply suction techniques (spot cleaning, stain/tideline reduction, etc) to a variety of study collection textiles and works on paper (prints, sheet music, charcoal on paper). The workshop will begin at 10am to accommodate local travel and start with a morning lecture covering suction theory and technology. In the afternoon there will be a practice session where participants can work together on the equipment with a variety of textile and paper materials.
