Volunteer with WCG!

Twenty people with name tags pose in front of a display case in the musuem
The all-volunteer crew for the day at the National Museum of American Jewish Military History.

It was great to see so many of you at the Three Ring Circus last week! In the coming months, WCG is mounting two outreach events: a Community Partnership Project (formerly known as Angels) and a Preservation Week event. We need your help! These types of events not only help WCG and the general public, but they are great opportunities for you to make new connections with other people in the field.

Community Partnership Project: On February 22, we are doing a project with the African American Civil War Museum. We will be helping to rehouse a portion of their collection and help train museum volunteers in condition reporting, rehousing, and proper care and handling of different types of objects. If you are interested in participating, please email Nancy Pollak at npollak@washingtonconservationguild.org. Please include your specialty.

Preservation Week: On May 2 from 11 am to 2 pm, we are collaborating with Fairfax Public Libraries to put on an event for the general public. The event will include a lecture, clinic, rehousing workshop, silver polishing demo, and kids’ event. We will also need a few people willing to be floaters and willing to support your colleagues by dealing with logistics on the day of the event. If you are interested in participating please email Anne Kingery-Schwartz at akingery-schwartz@washingtonconservationguild.org. Please include which of these activities you would like to help with.
