Dear Members of the Washington Conservation Guild,
Thank you for your patience as the Nominating Committee selected candidates for open Board positions for the upcoming season. There are two open Board positions, including Membership Secretary and Director. Please read these brief bios and be sure to vote by 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 14th (note the date change!). Details on absentee voting and logistics for the May Business Meeting will be sent shortly.
As always, there are many opportunities to get involved with WCG, so do be sure to contact any board member or email president@washingtonconservationguild.org if you wish to participate more in the organization.
Candidate for Membership Secretary:
Cheyenne Laux is an Emerging Museum Professional interested in Collections Management and Conservation. She received her BA in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and plans to obtain her MA in Museum Studies/Preventive Conservation. She previously held internships with the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at Berkeley, as well as with the National Collections Program within the Smithsonian. She is excited to be more involved with the WCG and learn more about conservation.
Candidate for Director:
A former Air Force Intelligence Officer and owner of an event planning company, Joanna Baker holds an BA from Vanderbilt University (Latin American Studies) and MA in Art and Museum Studies from Georgetown University (2017). She is currently enrolled in the graduate Museum Collections Management and Care course at George Washington University, with a 2020 completion date. Baker has been with the Kreeger Museum since 2017. She is currently the Registrar and Collection Manager, responsible for managing art conservation initiatives, maintaining collection records and the archives, in addition to coordinating all ingoing and outgoing artwork loans for exhibition. She also works closely with the curator to conduct research on the permanent collection.
