Call for Volunteers

The Washington Conservation Guild is partnering with Fairfax Public Library again to offer an in-person Preservation Fair.  We are hoping things will be normal enough that we can jointly host an event on October 16, 2021. The Guild will only do it if it is safe. The topic will focus on collecting oral histories, which aligns with the theme of the ALA Preservation Week this year.

An oral history lecture will start off the day.  The oral history theme will dovetail nicely with the three-hour clinic–while discussing family heirlooms discuss the importance of documenting their history as well as the object. Before we ask non-Guild members to be the lecturer, the Board wanted to reach out to the membership and ask if any member(s) have the background and expertise to be the speaker or co-speaker.  We would like to expand the reach of the lecture by adding it to the WCG outreach library to use for future lectures at other sites.
