Second Event: Synthetic coatings for the reduction of silver mirror in gelatin silver prints

Veronica Diaz has participated in various projects for the conservation of ceramics, mural painting, and polychrome sculpture in Mexico. However, her main focus is on the conservation of photographic material. In November 2019 she joined the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC where she is doing advanced training in photography conservation and preventive conservation as part of a grant supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Her work is to support the departments of preventive conservation and photography conservation in projects such as: monitoring the lighting of laboratories and exhibition rooms, documentation and registration of photographs for exhibitions, design of covers, treatments and cataloging of the study collection, etc. Additionally, she has worked extensively on a research project focused on analyzing materials used to reintegrate photographs.
