5. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is pleased to announce three ten-week summer internships in the Susan and David Goode Center for Advanced Study in Art Conservation

  • On-line applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on Monday, March 14, 2022
  • Interns will learn proper art handling techniques and appropriate storage and housing of works of art; participate in the use of scientific and technical conservation equipment; research conservation literature; write condition reports and perform treatments; learn about agents of deterioration; and assist in routine maintenance of the collection and conservation studios. Interns will actively participate in the daily activities of the VMFA conservation studios and become familiar with the American Institute for Conservation Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice.

7. The Georgia Archives 2022 Pre-Program Summer Conservation Internship.

  • Deadline: February 28, 2022
  • This internship gives prospective students of conservation training programs the opportunity to gain skills and experience in the preservation and treatment of paper-based archival materials. The intern will employ critical thinking and practical decision-making while working under the supervision of the Archives’ conservators.
  • The internship is 40 hours/week for 20 weeks starting summer 2022. 
  • A stipend of $12/hour or $9,600 total will be paid by FOGAH. A background check will be required for the successful applicant. The background check does not include a credit check.

8. Pre-Program Internship in Rare Book and Library Materials Conservation University of Washington Libraries

  • With generous funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the University of Washington is pleased to offer a 10-week summer internship open to qualified applicants. Individuals from historically underrepresented groups in the conservation field are encouraged to apply and affiliation with the University of Washington is not required.
  • Application deadline is February 28, 2022.  
  • This is a full-time (40 hours per week) summer program.  Duration is 10 weeks, with exact dates to be arranged between June and September 2022.  The University of Washington Libraries provides a $7,000 stipend.
