The Museum Specialist is responsible for a broad range of collections and plays a leadership role in accommodating acquisitions and loans. The position also handles inventory management efforts for permanent and lent collection items along with overseeing movement of collection items internally and externally to the Museum.
This full-time, permanent, federal position has a salary range of $78,592 – $102,166 per year at the GS-11 level.
Duties:
In this position you will:
- Handle collections including safe handling, storage, packing, documentation, display and security of collection objects.
- Work with curatorial staff, project managers and project teams to coordinate collections related activities.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures regarding museum standards and ethics for collections management.
- Respond to inquiries from the general public, scholars, and other constituents.
- Manage collections facilities, spaces, and off-site storage, including the monitoring of collections conditions in exhibition galleries.
