This full-time, permanent, federal position has a salary range of $53,105 – $69,035 per year at the GS-7 level

The incumbent of this position will work a special schedule of Tuesday – Saturday, 20 hours per week. Compflex.

Duties:

The Technician at all levels is focused on the customer service and engagement experiences of every Library of Congress visitor. This is a public-facing position that provides information, wayfinding, and guided experiences for visitors of the Library to include the public, Congressional Staff, Congressional Constituents, visiting delegations, school groups, tour companies, visitors with disabilities, and other key audiences.

Serves as a Library of Congress representative to visitors of the Library in person by providing information and responding to inquiries. Communicates with Library visitors and patrons, and adapts information as needed for diverse visitors.  Engages visitors to provide information or respond to inquiries.

Communicates with patrons and visitors to reserve passes and register visitors for events.  Makes reservations for passes and events.  Controls access by collecting passes for access/tours or confirming reservations for events.  Makes suggestions for other events and services available at the Library of Congress and surrounding tourist destinations.  Provides wayfinding for visitors and patrons to direct them within the three buildings on Capitol Hill that contain the Library of Congress services and collections.

Presents talks to the general public or groups, using previously prepared material.  Conducts guided tours through various areas of Library of Congress buildings.  Conducts guided tours through exhibits at Library of Congress buildings. Conducts specialized tours on specific exhibition areas or to specialized groups and/or individuals.  Responds to inquiries to audience questions.
