Description

The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) seeks an energetic, detail-oriented individual for the temporary position of Assistant Objects Conservator to assist in the conservation needs for an upcoming construction project. In consultation with the Senior Objects Conservator, the Assistant Objects Conservator will examine, document, rehouse, and treat as needed a variety of works, including furniture and textiles. The candidate will be responsible for condition checking and documenting works that will be moved to off-site storage and advising on the handling and packing of the works. The candidate will be involved with the assessment and movement of artworks to and from vault spaces that will be undergoing construction. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with conservators, registrars, art packers, and art handlers. 

This position will be a temporary, full-time member of the conservation department, working closely with the BMA’s Senior Objects Conservator and the Conservation Department, in a collegial and fast-paced environment. The Assistant Objects Conservator position will be an 18-month appointment and will need to be able to work independently and efficiently to maintain the construction timeline.

 SALARY – $65,000 Annually
