The Experimental Sound Recordings of Alexander Graham Bell and the Volta Laboratory, Dawn Wallace
Bio: Dawn Wallace is a graduate student from the Buffalo State, SUNY, Art Conservation Program specializing in object conservation. She is currently completing her third-year at the National Museum of American History and is interested in the conservation of technological objects and early plastics.
Chapel in the Fall Wood, A Painting by Maceptaw Bogun, Desi Peters.
Bio: Desi Peters is a 4th year graduate student at the Conservation Center, Institute of Fine Arts, NYU (NYU IFA-CC). She is currently completing her graduate internship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Lunder Center in Washington, DC. She is interested in Modern and Contemporary art for its problem solving and opportunities to work with artists.
A Journey Through the Carter Library: Conserving Publisher’s Bindings at The University of Virginia Library, Quinn Morgan Ferris
Bio: Quinn Morgan Ferris attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied art history and chemistry. Currently, Quinn is finishing her MA in Art History and Conservation at the NYU IFA-CC through a year-long internship at University of Virginia Library. Quinn has worked for the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation, the Villa la Pietra (Florence, Italy), and the National Park Service, (Skagway, AK) on various conservation projects; this summer she will be Instruction and Outreach Conservator at the University of Virginia.
A Day in the Life of Pre-program Interns at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Adam Wiener and Allison Rabent
Bio: Adam Wiener graduated from Williams College in 2014 with a BA in Japanese. He was introduced to art conservation as an undergraduate through a course at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center. Adam is currently completing his first pre-program internship at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Bio: Allison Rabent graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2013 with a BS in Museum Studies and minors in art history and chemistry. She is currently a pre-program intern at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Allison has previously interned at the Smithsonian Museum Conservation Institute, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, George Eastman House, and Villanova University.
Directions: The Silver Spring Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Station is located at 8100 Georgia Avenues. Limited free parking is available in front of the station, with ample street parking and a parking garage available nearby. Please do not park next door at the fire station. The railroad station is also an easy four-block walk from the Silver Spring Metro station on the Red Line.
