On Nov. 7, 2018, the Washington Conservation Guild joined with the Smithsonian’s National Collections Program, Smithsonian Facilities, the Lunder Conservation Center, and the AIHA Potomac Local Section to present the third annual Safety and Cultural Heritage Summit.
The Smithsonian American Art Museum once again served as a perfect setting for exchanging information amongst a growing network of conservators, collections managers, exhibit specialists, industrial hygienists, safety professionals, engineers, and architects, who share a common goal of controlling safety and health hazards while preserving our cultural heritage.
Over 140 professionals from these diverse backgrounds—split roughly 50/50 between conservators and collections care professionals, and professionals in safety, health, fire protection, engineering and architecture—attended the Summit.
